If you hold your hand before your eyes, and block out the view of either side of this
painting, the image is not complete in fact, some will be unable to process what the image is
and so the achievement of the story is missing.
When you find your partner in life, the same is true. It is only through the combination
of both your actions that your life becomes the most beautiful story. The journey is shared,
the destinations are broader and more varied, the experiences outsized and amazing.
In fact the very origin of the design of two different sides of a coin is to add value a
single side minted coin is easy to duplicate, more common and therefore worth less. The story
it tells is equally less compelling. Whereas the two sides combine to something unique their
own magical mythology.
But this is not where the analogy of coins and love ends.
There is a myth that when you flip a coin, you have a 50/50 chance of how the coin
lands. In reality, because of the differing images, weight differs ever so slightly and thus the
coin is not perfectly balanced. It is the same in our love. Sometimes one of us is the leader,
sometimes the follower, sometimes one is the healer, other times, we are the ones being
healed. The short term balance is never even rather it becomes so over the days, months
and years, that love unfolds. Love is not about of tally of accomplishments, but rather a
blending of strengths, some more subtle, some move overt.
Just like relationships, the coin is forged through difficulty fire, and hammer, changes
between liquid and solid. A give and take of pain and healing. The result of which is beauteous.
When the Romans issued their first coin in 281 BC, one side of the coin was an image of
the God Mars the God of both War and Agriculture. Thought differently, it is both the
Warrior, and the Provider.
The other side is that of a Horse, one ear forward one ear back. A lookout for another,
Aware of the full circle of life around it. The Circle of a Coin. The Circle of Love.
