From the Artist: "The natural curve of the land made it easy to "trick and trap" with "September Showoffs." This technique involves an artist tricking you to look at a paitning and trapping you by leading your eye around the painting with composition and (hopefully) natural-looking lines built in to the trees, grass, mountains, and shrubbery.

In looking at this painting, the eye has difficulty moving up the hill past the glowing aspen trees, forcing your eye to follow their vertical lines up to look at the mountains, which bring your eyes back to the dipping tree line on the right to move you through the cycle again, perhaps in different ways each time."
